Charterhouse is partnering with one of our leading retail clients who is looking to hire a Director of Internal Audit for their regional business which is overseen from their Dubai headquarters. Supporting both the Vice President of Internal Audit and Chief Operating Officers, this role will take ownership of the internal audit practices, across a number of market jurisdictions within the business portfolio.
About the role
The core remit will be to oversee a team of Internal Auditors to design and delivery a non-conventional second line of defence audit plan whereby a strong commercial and value-add for the business and management. Focused across a number of country units and businesses, the role will be required to develop a comprehensive assessment of risk profiles linked to operational, financial and retail-related specific risk mitigations. This is designed to ensure both adequate controls and a mix of audit controls are in place to allow the support of corporates objectives and retail agendas. In conjunction, this role will devise an audit programme, which is linked to all business aspects across the organisation from areas procurement and logistics all the way through to pricing strategy and store experience. This programme will also play a critical role in developing stronger operations and retail positioning to ensure that the overall business reputation, revenue flows and profit ratios are enhanced and maximised. You shall also act as the linchpin between Internal Audit and all other specialists working within IT, supply chain, food safety and outsourcing to ensure that all processes are mapped and analysed for the required governance and standard.
The successful candidate should be a seasoned and experienced professional who is capable of displaying in advance of 10 years of practical and hands-on experience within internal audit and most latterly within the FMCG and retail industry. The candidate should possess a CPA or CIA based qualification and they will be expected to devise and strategies whilst working both autonomously and within a chain of reporting to support the business. The client will be very specific about pinpointing a candidate coming from a food retail background and regional travel will be an active requirement of the job responsibility.
