Charterhouse is currently assisting a global family office, looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer to join its product support & design team based in New York City.
About the Role
The Data Engineer will play a key role in designing and maintaining enterprise-grade data architecture, building scalable data pipelines, and ensuring the integrity and availability of financial datasets. This position requires close collaboration with quantitative researchers, investment analysts, and cross-functional technical teams to deliver data solutions that directly support strategic decision-making.
Additionally, the role involves acquiring and integrating data from multiple sources, performing data cleansing and enrichment, and conducting exploratory analysis to uncover actionable insights. Core responsibilities include documenting data models and processes, optimizing system performance, and ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory standards. A strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, orchestration tools, and financial data systems is essential. This position offers a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development of an advanced data platform that drives high-value investment strategies and research initiatives. The role is based on a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite in New York.
About You
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in financial data or quantitative engineering, preferably within a top-tier financial institution. A background in computer science, mathematics, or physics is required, with a master’s degree considered advantageous. Proficiency in SQL and Python is expected, along with hands-on experience with platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or BigQuery. Familiarity with Apache Airflow, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable. Experience with financial datasets such as Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Global, Macrobond, and MSCI will be viewed favorably.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role offers the opportunity to shape the data ecosystem of a globally active family office. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively across both technical and non-technical teams. Fluency in English is essential.
